Van Dyck pre-cooked crepes and hotcakes are available nationwide, but depending where you live and what supermarket you shop at, they will either be in a Marcel’s branded pack or in an unbranded clear pack, or under the supermarket bakery brand. To make it easy for you to find them, we will tell you where to look and under what brand.
If you shop at Foodtown, Woolworths and Countdown stores nationwide Marcel’s Hotcakes & Crepes can be found in the fresh bakery department, packaged under the bakery home brand Freshzone.If you shop at New World or Pak N Save in the upper North Island and South Island stores, you can find us in the bakery department packed in a clear plastic unbranded pack; for New World & Pak N Save in the lower North Island we are packed under the Marcel’s brand and found in the bakery department. Our product range is stocked in the freezer of specialty foods stores around New Zealand too. Each store stocks different product choices from the range, including pre-cooked plain, sweet or gluten free crepes, hotcakes in plain, chocolate or blueberry and mini hotcakes. Our very popular blinis, small Russian savoury pancakes, are used in place of a cracker, great for finger food and starters.
Specialty food stores in Auckland include Farro Fresh Foods in Mt Wellington, Nosh Food Market in Glen Innes and Nosh Metro on Ponsonby Rd. For gluten free crepes, try IE Produce Takapuna and Huckleberry Farms Greenlane. In the Wellington Region we are in Moore Wilson stores in Wellington city, Porirua and Masterton.
Serving suggestions: Every New Zealander loves pancakes for breakfast or dessert. Serve hotcakes for breakfast with bacon, banana and maple syrup, or as a dessert with your favourite sweet topping.
Marcel’s sweet crepes are a thin, european style pancake; all you do is heat and serve. Try lemon juice and sugar for tradition. Other popular fillings are berries and yoghurt, or fruit and ice cream.
Marcel’s plain crepes offer you a savoury option and can be filled with almost anything you like. Try salmon, cream cheese and dill, or for the kids, fill with their favourite filling, roll and serve.
For those with special dietary needs, we also have gluten free crepes. These can be used with either a sweet or savoury filling.
Mini hotcakes are great for children. They come in packs of 24 and are perfect for lunchboxes. These are great on their own or serve them with a healthy topping.
Blinis are superb for catering, finger food or parties. Toppings are unlimited.
