AgapanthusPosted by: HappyPaddler (---.dialup.xtra.co.nz)Date: September 25, 2007 10:18AM Help - any advice on how to kill agapanthus? I hate them and have dug them out but they seem to keep coming back! Any help (other than concreting over the garden) would be appreciated! Thanks, HappyPaddler |

Re: Agapanthus
Posted by: Lorna (---.bitstream.orcon.net.nz) Date: September 25, 2007 05:12PM Look at them in a different light. I remember an elderly lady who lived on a corner, back in the days when people didn't have their front yards fenced as though it's Fort Knox. All the local school children used to cut across her lawn, between the bed of Agapanthus and the house, creating a muddy track when it rained. She was heartily sick of telling the kids to keep to the public footpath. None of them listened to her. So one day she stuck up a large sign "Beware the Agapanthus". From that day on, the kids never used her front section as a short cut. Every plant, no matter how despised, has its uses.
Or you could dig them all up and bring them round to my place. I know they're supposed to be a pest, but I love them. |

Posted by: Trisha (---.ubs-dsl.xnet.co.nz) Date: September 25, 2007 10:13PM Mitre 10 have some info on their web sight as to how to deal with agapanthus. Trouble is they grow from seed very easily so you also have to make sure you remove the dead flower heads. They are very rapidly taking over my daughters garden. Good luck |
