Canapes

excuse my ignorance here, but better to ask and be thought ignorant, then keep quiet and confirm you are ignorant... anyway, how do you correctly pronounce canapes - is it can-a-pays???? Through work I am selling wedding packages which includes canapes for the wedding couple, and I always stumble over the pronunciation.
can my fellow foodies help me please ?:-(

:/Well...that's how I was told it is pronounced !

You got it Irene. The "e" at the end has an "acute" (') above it to indicate the quality or length of its sound, as in cafe'

touche !! or should I say I ate a canape at a cafe, touche !!!

seriously, thanks guys for your help, much appreciated - I HATE mispronunciation of words :)

French word Irene - canapé - as in my own name - Renée (which also is French)!!
