Ingredients

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 500g beef mince
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 100g tasty cheese
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 pack Bazaar Sesame Bagels
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 beetroot, cooked and sliced
  • ½ cup aioli or mayonnaise

Method

1.  Preheat oven to 180 C. Place onion, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato sauce, beef mince, salt and pepper in a bowl mix well with your hands.

2.  Shape the mince into 4 patties.

3.  Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook patties until brown on both sides.  Transfer patties to an oven proof dish.  Slice the cheese and place on top of each patty.  Cook in the oven until the cheese is melted and the meat cooked through.

4. Cook the bacon in the frying pan until crisp and drain on paper towels.

5.  Slice each bagel horizontally into 3 even slices.  Lightly toast the bagel slices.

6.  Place each bagel base on a plate.  Top with a patty and a bacon rasher.  Cover with the centre bagel slice and then top with beetroot, tomato and lettuce.

7. Spread the inside of the top bagel slice with aioli and sit on top of the burger.  Hold in place with a skewer if needed.
