Pretty and Pink – Cinnamon Bridge

Posted By Helen Jackson On April 2, 2014 @ 5:26 pm In Great Celebratory Cake Baking Competition | 3 Comments

This cake in its varying shades of pink is oh so pretty.

Cinnamon says ” I am 22 years old and have a passion for cake decorating.
The cake recipe I used is the chocolate cake recipe from the Edmond’s cook book;

I baked two of these cakes and put one on top of the other with some chocolate icing in between. I also put chocolate chips through the cake mixture.

For the butter cream icing I used a recipe I picked up when I did a short cupcake decorating evening and I doubled the mixture for this cake.

1/2 cup vegetable shortening (Kremelta)
125g butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
500g icing sugar
4-5 tablespoons lukewarm water

I mixed small quantities of icing into 3 shades of pink and put them into piping bags with some white icing to get a colour swirl effect. I use the 1M piping nozzle..
I covered the cake in rose swirls going from darker pink at bottom to light at the top.”
