Wholemeal Caramel Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wholemeal flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup self raising flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 egg
  • 150g butter,melted
  • filling
  • 100g butter
  • 397g condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 50g chocolate
  • 50g butter, melted
  • chopped walnuts

Method

Preheat oven to 180 C.Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and add egg and melted butter. Press 2/3 of mixture onto base of 25cm flan dish.
Slowly melt butter, golden syrup and condensed milk together, remove from heat and add vanilla essence. Pour into pie base and sprinkle with remaining crust on top of filling and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Drizzle top with combined melted butter and chocolate and sprinkle with walnuts.
