Ingredients

  • 3 medium brown onions
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 3 teaspoons ground coriander
  • vegetable oil for deep frying

Method

Peel and finely dice onions. Add onion to a saucepan of boiling water and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Whisk all other ingredients in a bowl, add onion and mix well.
Heat oil in a saucepan and deep fry spoonfuls of mixture until puffed and golden. Drain on paper towels and serve.
