Braised Soy Pork

Serves 4


  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 600g pork, chopped into 2.5cm pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 cm piece ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup coriander leaves


Heat oil in a large saucepan and brown the meat. Set the meat aside and add onions, garlic and ginger to the pan with more oil if needed and gently cook until soft. Return the meat to the pan along with the soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar and enough water to just cover the meat. Simmer for 30 minutes or until pork is tender. Thicken or reduce sauce and serve with steamed rice and coriander.
