Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 orange, quartered, with cloves stuck into the skin
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 bay leaf (optional)
  • brown sugar to taste
  • Splash of brandy or rum (optional)

Method

Pour red wine into a saucepan along with orange pieces, cinnamon sticks and bay leaf.
Warm, but do not boil. Keep warm for 5-10 minutes to let the flavours infuse.
When warm add brown sugar to sweetness you require.
Add a little brandy or rum if you desire for a little extra oomph.
