Ingredients
- 50 g butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sultanas
- 1 tablespoon of any jam
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1 teaspoon baking soda mixed in 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup flour
- pinch of salt
Method
Mix pudding in the basin you are going to steam it in.
Melt butter in the steamer basin then add brown sugar, sultanas, jam, mixed spice and baking soda dissolved in milk. Mix in flour and salt.
Stir all together well. Don’t cover the steamer basin.
Stand steamer in a saucepan of boiling water and cover saucepan with its lid
Steam for 1-1/2 hours.
Serve with icecream and/or cream.
No worries J1 – true there are lots of more delicious ones out there! But, we think it is a good family steamed pudding for the ease of putting it together and it does have a nice flavour . I have always found it a great standby and it’s one a not-so-culinary person could easily put together and be proud of, even if it’s looks leave more to be desired!
This does make an average, nice steamed pudding but there are far too many more delicious ones out there to bother with this again – sorry Dawn!
