Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 30g butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sultanas
- 1/4 cup chopped dates
- 2 teaspoons finely grated orange rind
- 4 apples, peeled, cored and lightly cooked
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 60g butter, melted
Method
Preheat oven to 150 C
Sift together flour and baking powder, rub in butter until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Make a well in the centre and add enough milk to make a soft dough.
Place dough into a lightly greased baking dish creating a well in the centre. Add sultanas, chopped dates, grated orange rind, and apples. Fold the dough over the filling. Combine apple juice, brown sugar and butter, pour over dough.
Bake for 1 1/4 hours
