Ingredients
- 125 g butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup flour
Method
Preheat oven to 180 C.
Beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy. Heat together milk and golden syrup, remove from the heat and stir in baking soda. Pour the bubbly mixture into the butter and sugar and add the flour (add a little extra flour if mixture is sticky). Roll into balls and place on a cold greased tray. Press gently with a fork and bake 15-20 minutes until very golden.
If biscuits come out of the oven too soon they will not be crisp – if you find they are chewy when cool then put back in oven for another few minutes.

Need to know the details of calories, sugar, protein, etc.
for the recipes….concerned because of Diabetes….How can I get these?
Hi Myria
As I have diabetes myself I would only one of these as a special treat because it does have quite a bit of sugar. I have used Splenda in my baking so this may be an option to replace the sugar with Splenda to make it more suitable for a person with diabetes. I would be interested to know how it turns out.
A good, reliable old favourite in our home
