Is it just me or is it much harder to exercise self-control when it comes to food during the winter months?
I love food, and when the weather gets chilly and nights are spent in front of the roaring fire place, my love for food seems to grow.
I find myself eating bigger portions at lunch and dinner, cooking more vegetables and then thinking about desert before i’ve even had my last mouthful of dinner!
I know desert shouldn’t be a regular thing, in fact my dietician has told me that I shouldn’t need it at all. And I don’t think I do need it. I think it’s more a want.
Cuddled up by the fireplace, watching a good film after a delicious dinner and I just want to top the night off with something sweet – some chocolate mousse, or some ice cream.
I used to think I had good self-control, but i’ve seriously been questioning that recently.
My partner arrived home from the supermarket last week and proclaimed he’d ‘been naughty’. When I asked him how he produced a king size block of Cadbury Crunchie chocolate. Unfortunately that’s my favourite chocolate flavour.
By that night i’d consumed a decent amount of the block. All I could say was ‘whoops!’
Then of course the guilt sets in.
Some people have a weakness when it comes to sweet treats. I have about 30 weaknesses. Including Piako yoghurt, Big Hokey (Memphis Meltdown), Kiwifruit (okay that’s not really ‘bad’), Crunchie Chocolate, Lindt Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Mousse, Cake, Banoffee Pie, Apple Crumble… I really could go on….
What are your weaknesses? When does your self-control fly out the window? Please tell me i’m not alone!
