Great with after-dinner coffee.
- 3 cups ground almonds
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- 2 egg whites lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon lemon rind finely grated
- whole cloves
- extra icing sugar for dusting
Pre-heat oven to 180 deg. C
Blend almonds with sugar; add egg whites and lemon rind. With greased hands, shape dough into pear shapes and stick a clove on top te resemble the stem of the pear. Place on baking tray and bake for 20 minutes. Dip hot pears in icing sugar and leave to cool. Pack into suitable containers, pre-dusted with more icing sugar.
