I bake mine for the full 12 minutes.
makes 36 -40 biscuits.

  • 250g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 250g flour, sifted

Method

Preheat oven to 180 C.
Beat softened butter & sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the egg , syrup & spices, mix well. Add sifted baking powder, baking soda and flour.
Roll into small balls and place on a cool tray, allow room for spreading.
Bake for 10 - 12 minutes.
Watch carefully after 10 minutes as they can burn quickly.
The biscuits will crisp up as they cool.

  1. Does anyone have a ginger biscuit recipe without either molases or golden syrup. Both are unavailable in Brazil.
If possible one that uses fresh ginger and not powder.

  2. Nice gingery taste, crisp but far too sweet for me. Did cook them for 12 minutes, but need to be watched because of possibility to burn. I turned oven off after 10 minutes. I probably wouldn’t cook again because of the sweetness.

    • Next day and taste better. I must have been eating too much raw mix last night. Still a little sweet, but okay.

  3. I just made these biscuits but changed the recipe so it was dairy and gluten free. The biscuits worked out fine – crisp and a little crumby. I used the same amounts as per recipe but used dairy free spread and Healtheries Baking Mix.
