Mixture will be very runny, do not worry this is as it should be.
Ingredients
- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1 dessertspoon ground ginger
- 1 teapsoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup golden syrup
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg, lightly whisked
Method
Preheat oven to 180 CSift together flour and spices, mix in sugar. Warm milk, golden syrup and butter in a saucepan to dissolve butter, stir in baking soda and egg. Combine with dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
Pour into greased pan and bake for 1 hour until cake tests cooked.

Made this recipe several times, very easy to put together and has always ended up to be a perfect gingerbread. Just divine. Grandchildren love it so it doesn’t stay in the cake tin long.
