Treacle Snaps

 

Ingredients

  • 180g butter
  • 1 cup treacle
  • 240g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 500g flour
  • pinch salt

Method

Preheat
oven to 150 C Gently melt butter, sugar and treacle in a saucepan. Heat
to hot but not boiling. Leave to cool slightly and then stir in soda and
lightly whisked egg. Pour mixture over flour and salt. Work dough while
still warm and roll into walnut sized balls and flatten with a fork. Bake
for 15-20 minutes. Do not open oven door before 15 minutes. Biscuits will
be hard and brittle.
