It makes a lovely large cake for a crowd but the recipe is very easily halved.
If this cake happens to last more than a day it actually improves on keeping.
*note from Helen – I halve the recipe and make this cake in a 23cm (9 inch) round spring form cake tin, as photographed.
These moist little orange cakes are lovely served with a dollop of Greek yoghurt.
Dark chocolate chips can be a mixed through or alternatively you can ice with dark chocolate icing.

It doesn’t need icing – it’s very moist and moreish! Freezes extremely well too.

This recipe can be done in a pretty rough manner. If you have no raw sugar white will do the trick, the spices can be changed to suit tastes and it can be made in non ring pans with no ill effects. Its a great recipe for kids to learn on as it always come out fine.

These are wicked but a nice treat. I generally make these at Christmas. I roll them into balls and dip them into chocolate….they are very popular, my Uncle requests them every year! If you are going to dip them, pop the balls into the freezer for a little while first.

This cake is easy to make, always successful, cuts beautifully, feeds many, good warm with cream or custard for dessert or cold with tea or coffee. Tastes even better the next day.
